We are currently engaged by a leading property and casualty insurance company who are seeking experienced Actuarial AVPs or Directors with Reserving and Pricing experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the reserving function for one or more business units (Personal Lines, Commercial lines, Specialty Lines) and its associated lines of business
  • Manage and lead a team
  • Monitor reserve adequacy and communicating trends, results and issues to executive leadership
  • Responsible for exploring ways to continually improve processes and enhance efficiencies
  • Partners with the business (Underwriting & Pricing), as well as Claims, Finance and Accounting across the organization to build credibility of the actuarial department and make appropriate decisions
  • Ability to influence and negotiate the appropriate actions to support strategic goals of the organization
  • Provide leadership across the actuarial and analytics community by leading initiatives, promoting a culture of innovation and fostering mentorship

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant technical field
  • 10+ years of technical experience in multiple LoB and/or actuarial disciplines such as pricing, reserving or advanced analytics
  • Prior management experience, preferably 4+ years
  • ACAS required, FCAS preferred
  • Strategic thinker – able to critically evaluate external and internal factors. Balance short and long-term objectives
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels with teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to improve processes, constantly seek to learn and apply new techniques
  • Results driven and desire to exceed. Including personal and organizational goals
  • A track record of influencing – communicate ideas or positions in a persuasive manner that build support, agreement or commitment
  • Make quick decisions – assess the scope of an issue and provide options leading to its closure. Determine appropriate options and effectively include key stakeholders in the decision-making process
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to present subjects clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability and proactivity to develop talent across the organization. Able to mentor and support learning
  • Experience of change management and transformation
  • Ability to develop and automate processes – programming, Excel skills
