We are currently engaged by a leading insurance company that provides specialty risk solutions to clients worldwide across a wide range of industries. They are seeking experienced AVPs with Excess and Surplus Casualty experience. You will be responsible for underwriting primary, umbrella and excess policies for highly complex risks.

Responsibilities:
- Building a profitable book of business
- Ensure that underwriting applications and practices are in accordance with appropriate regulatory requirements
- Underwrite primary, umbrella and excess policies for highly complex risks
- Provide input on strategies and actions that can maximize product line underwriting results and competitive advantages while being mindful of the organizational goals
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with assigned brokers
- Review large losses to identify any trends or training issues and provide post loss analysis
- Participate in marketplace initiatives to expand the brand and the specific reputation through interface with regional customers, brokers and other industry professionals
- Assist finance, claims, legal, marketing, IT, and compliance as required
- Participate in industry conferences as required
- Travel to producer locations
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Industry-specific study or designations (such as CPCU & ARM) are a plus
- 7 years+ production underwriting experience including a progression to more senior underwriting roles with dedicated underwriting authority
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving abilities
- Strong leadership skills evidenced by extensive successful external experience in dealing with brokers, agents, policyholders and industry groups and internal experience in dealing with peers, support staff, management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to understand and interpret various sources of information to make informed decisions
- Customer-service focus with the ability to effectively multi-task with limited direction
