We are currently engaged by a leading property and casualty insurance company who are seeking Actuarial Directors with Personal Lines experience. This role will partner across the Personal Lines actuarial team and the broader organization including Personal Lines State Management, Underwriting, Product, Technology, and Finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of pricing actuaries
  • Provide overall management and technical oversight to a team of analysts with varying degrees of experience and expected to take on a more hands on approach when required
  • Manage rate reviews with an eye towards process improvement, loss ratio planning, supporting product development, and leveraging analytics to advance more sophisticated pricing strategies and solutions
  • Oversee analysis in support of overall personal lines pricing strategy including continued advancements of pricing sophistication
  • Responsible for filings to support and implement rate and product enhancements
  • Own the actuarial rate indications and actuarial assumption updates for assigned states
  • Analyze profitability and mix of business to provide rate and strategy recommendations to business partners
  • Provide actuarial support on routine insurance department inquiries as needed

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a relevant technical field
  • 7+ years of technical experience in multiple LoB and/or actuarial disciplines such as pricing, reserving or advanced analytics
  • Experience with predictive modelling
  • Minimum of 2 years in management capacity
  • ACAS required, FCAS preferred
  • Drive innovation within the Personal Lines state pricing team, enhance countrywide performance tracking and analysis
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels with teams and stakeholders
  • Influence and negotiate appropriate actions to support strategic goals of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to present subjects clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to integrate technical analysis and organizational strategy to business partners and upper management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all techniques used to model various assumptions
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of external market forces – being able to incorporate these into decision making
  • Ability to develop and automate processes – programming, Excel skills
